Who Gets Your Vote? Rock Hall of Fame 2019 Nominees Announced!

If you missed the news this week, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just announced the nominees for its 2019 induction. The 15 artists and acts include luminaries from blues, hip-hop, rock, r&b and more. Check out the list below and tell us what you think.

Def Leppard

Devo

Janet Jackson

John Prine

Kraftwerk

LL Cool J

MC5

Radiohead

Rage Against the Machine

Roxy Music

Rufus featuring Chaka Khan

Stevie Nicks

The Cure

The Zombies

Todd Rundgren

As stated in an official press release, artists and bands are eligible only if it has been at least 25 years since the commercial release of their first recording.

Stevie Nicks was inducted into the hall of fame as part of Fleetwood Mac in 1998, but this is the first time she will be nominated as a solo artist. Other first-time nominees include Def Leppard, John Prine, Roxy Music, Devo and Todd Rundgren.

The 2019 nominees aren’t just full of first-timers.

Janet Jackson was previously nominated twice, LL Cool J was nominated five times before and Rage Against the Machine had just one previous nomination. Radiohead were on the 2018 nominees list but they famously disregarded the entire thing.

“I don’t want to be rude,” Ed O’Brien of Radiohead said in a Rolling Stone interview. “But if you ask me what I’d rather be doing that night, I’d rather be sitting at home in front of the fire or going to a gig. I realized years ago that I didn’t like award ceremonies.”

Radiohead probably won’t show up even if they were selected. Thankfully, if fans wanted to see the band inducted, fans may vote for their favorite artists right here

Fan voting started on October 9 and will run until December 9, 2018. The top five artists or acts from the fan vote will make up a “fans’ ballot” that will be officially counted as part of the voting body. Besides the fan ballot, the voting body is comprised of over 1,000 artists, music historians and industry veterans.

Official inductees to the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will be announced in December 2018, while the ceremony will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on March 29, 2019.

Who do you want to be inducted? And is there an artist that you want to see on this list, but isn't? Let us know in the comments and share this with your friends!
