Wish You Were Here Song Lesson Released!

how to play wish you were here

“Wish You Were Here” is a song by the English rock band Pink Floyd and was released in 1975 on the album of the same name. Roger Waters and David Gilmour wrote the song together and it remains one of the most iconic songs of all-time.

By the the time “Wish You Were Here” was released, it had already been two years since Pink Floyd’s groundbreaking Dark Side of the Moon album.

Dave will show you how to play “Wish You Were Here” which features a 12-string guitar as well as a six-string acoustic that repeats the intro riff a number of times before the vocals are introduced. There’s also a third guitar, an electric guitar used for the slide sections that give the song its signature haunting and melancholic sound.

Like most song lessons on Guitar Tricks, we include a performance section where you can play along with the backing track. There is also a single guitar section so you can play the song with just one guitar.
