I am looking for good and slightly cheap effect for solo boost, but I need something with warm sound. I've never played the T-Rex. So I can't speak to that one.
The Blackstar & TC Electronics are both excellent & I have experience with them. But they each have pros & cons.
The Blackstar is a boost, but it acts more like an overdrive. With more knobs you have more control. And it has more gain on tap than the TC, so keep that in mind.

The TC has the advantage of a simple design. But the drawback is that you don't have much control, other than the amount of boost. It only does one thing & it's basically transparent & unity at zero.

My personal choice for a clean boost is a compressor (like a MXR dyna comp, or Orange Squeeze), or if I want some more muscle I have a custom pedal based on the MXR micro amp. It's basically an overdrive pedal like the MXR Dist+ or Boss SD, but it only has the op-amp boost & doesn't have the diode clipping stage.

Remember, if you can to try before you buy. There's no substitute for playing through the device (preferably with your guitar & amp, or gear similar to yours). A gear demo is a good place to start, but you'll never know how the effect responds to your picking & playing without trying it.
Best of success with it!
A lot of people like to use the tubescreamer as a boost pedal, there's normally loads on ebay second hand.
Personally i like the Boss FB-2 but mainly because i use the feedback feature on it a lot rather than the boost but as just a boost pedal you have a lot of control with it, it has a filter knob to add more treble if you want.
