Hi there,

Some amps have built-in effects loops. This is great because if you simply put all of your pedals between your guitar and the amp, some of your tone will be sucked out when the signal travels through the pedals.

Effects loops help by taking the load off the front of the amp, the preamp. So when the guitar signal travels from the guitar, into the amp, it doesn't have to go through a bunch of stompboxes that might suck out the tone. If you put pedals into the effects loop, the signal will be clean and travel to the preamp and then be sent to the effects.

In this sense, amps with FX loops are technically a little better.
