I cover the basics of music theory in this collection.

And I have a lot of other tutorials that cover more specific topics combining theory & application. For example the triads & inversions tutorials, my improvisation tutorials. In just about every tutorial I try to at least mention if not completely explain the theory behind the practice. So, I'm ready to go as far down that rabbit hole as any students might want to. :)

But it's important to keep your theory & practice on pace with each other. Otherwise you wind up "knowing" concepts you can't use or don't really understand because you don't have the physical skills to apply them. Or you know how to play lots of things but don't understand how or why they work.

If you want to start at square one, then you might benefit from my older fundamentals 2 course. I start with the theory foundations of music (intervals) as applied to the guitar. Then I build intervals into scales, chords & how they are related in chapters 1 & 3.
