As a beginner but having gone to private lessons before I am used to leaving the index finger hovering over the first fret b string and using middle on A string second fret and ring on D string to play Em and find it easier just to put index down on b string and just change the middle and ring finger to D and G string for Am. I guess it would be an advantage to be able to use both ways as maybe it will be easier for any future chords that we learn.I am sure Lisa will put us right.
