Tapping

Can anyone tell me how to set up an amp for the best tapping sound. do you increase the gain? I just cant hear the notes well. And im pressing down on the strings hard so its not that.

Increasing the gain can help, but only if your technique solid in the first place. For example, it's possible to do tapping & get a great result with a completely clean tone.

So, start with proper technique. Tap directly behind the fret, not on it. Make sure you don't linger too long on the string. Don't PLACE your finger, TAP it & then get off of it. When you tap, make sure to pull the string just a little as if you were doing a pull-off.

Also, and just based on my experience with a Fender Strat, tapping is much louder and clearer on the bridge pickup.
