I have two guitars. One, a cheap Fender starcaster (which is the box store name for the cheapest Squire) I leave at work to practice during lunch. The other,an Epiphone GS I have at home. I notce with the Fender the 2nd fret seems slightly larger than on the GS, so I am able to play the A chord the way Lisa prefers with my 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers. But on the GS that's more dificult, so I use my 2-3-4 finger or 1st finger on the G , 2nd on the D and 3rd on the B.

At first blush it would seem getting larger fret spacing is to be preferred, but I'm sure there are pros and cons either way. Can anyone explain them to me? Should I look for larger frets on my next guitar?

Thanks to all.

different guitars might have different fret heights... so one approach might not fit for a different guitar. It seems you're on track to learn different ways to fret the A chord...you never know when that be of use... but it sure will.
