Hi. I've been looking at getting a better acoustic/electric. Went in with fender in mind and came out thinking Yamaha. The a1r sounded real good and was also quite surprised at a couple of the Ibanez models. Anywayyyyy...they didn't have a Yamaha a3m or r model in stock for me to try and now I'm wondering if I should go back and grab the a1r or wait until I can try the a3 ones when they come in. Anyone know if the all solid a3 series is significantly better sounding than the laminate body a1 series? Can't afford a solid Taylor but the a series Yamaha sound excellent to my ears. Open to other suggestions. Tried couple of seagulls and they sounded quite good too but not sure about the necks

I purchased a yamaha about 7 years ago

APX 500 ii electro acoustic.

In my budget range was an ibanez & a fender which i liked ( can't remember models)

Any way the yamaha sound seemed way better than the other 2, so thats's what i went with.

Still plays really nice now, also since upgraded my amp, which has an acoustic option & it sounds great.

That's just my humble opinion, hope it helps

The 3 series is a great guitar however with a good set-up the AC1 won't disappoint.

If you plan on plugging in then definitely go the AC3

Thanks for t he feedback. I think I'm more interested in how it will sound unplugged. Tried the ac1r yesterday and nice but preferred the a1r so think I've eliminated the concert body . Just need to find the mahogany versions now and I might finally make a decision. The ebony fingerboards on the 3s could be a clincher and I'm guessing th e all solid bodies will be worth the 500 more. I love guitar shopping!
