Good evening all, this is Jerome, from France and absolute beginner in the guitar. I'm 48, married with with 2 little girls aged 3yrs and a half. I've strarted guitartricks program a bit more than 1 week ago and already got some strugglings but I guess that's the path everyone experienced !

I'm looking forward playing my first song (Simple man from Lynyrd Skynyrd as per the program) and hope I'll manage to play those dream songs of the Stones, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Lenny Kravitz, Jimi Hendrix one day !

Have a great evening or day depending on where you are in the world and see you soon on the forum.

Cheers

Jerome

Hey welcome to guitar tricks.

I'm 53 as of today and have been here with guitar tricks since 2013.

Just a pointer I have come a long way since I started but really haven't mastered the basics, so I am starting from the beginning with Lisa and you know what I have already picked up some new ideas that I wish I knew when I started.

So what I'm trying to say is start from the beginning and don't rush things.

Cheers

I second starting at the very beginning with Lisa. I think big big mistake to skip over fundamentals 1 and 2 if you're serious about learning. (And Lisa is wonderful!)

Thanks for your nice comments. I'm in the middle of Fundamental 1 with Lisa at the moment and quite happy by the way it's going on. Except my fingers, I think they're a bit less happy than I do ;-)

I do have some issues with the left hand positionning at the moment, especially to do the spider walk. I can only do 2 fingers properly (e.g. without muting other strings). With 3 fingers I can place the fingers but I mute strings below and with 4 fingers I can only place them on strings 4-5-6.

Have a great day.

Cheers

Jerome

Hi Jerome, I am experiencing the exact same thing, I only started a week ago, I too am struggling with the spider walk and sore fingers, but I'm told everyone has to go through this.

I'm nearly 60, and just starting, age is just a number.

Hi, at 66 next week I have some years on all of you. I've been trying to learn, half-heartedly, for 30 years but Lisa is showing me the way!

I too am struggling with those dratted spider legs but I have improved in the last 2 weeks and I'll continue to try. Good luck on your journey!

I am 50+ and two weeks into the program. Practicing simple G really hurts my ring finger and I cannot practice but a few minutes at a time before I feel a sharp pain from the finger.
