Hello Everyone!

I have what I am sure is a very basic question.

How do you play the chords in a songbook (where the chords are just placed above the lyrics)?

I thought it was a four count, but I can never make it sound right and end up just winging it and playing what sounds close to right (but it never really does).

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Don

Hi dbh1990,

The chords shown in a songbook follow the song's tempo and you may want to learn the rhythm of the song first. It's also important to know the song's strum pattern, which is usually not listed or marked on a songbook-style listing.

Important part is to learn the strum pattern, and to also try and play the song slow with the original recording.
