how many newbies are using the fret trainer

Find I'm now getting notes right but I'm very slow. PB is 1min 17secs but improving.

More and more spots becoming known and I can work from them.

Sometimes find I am still working from the nut than working back from the 12th fret.

Naming the notes for real on the guitar as I'm using them now.

How do people feel that working with the fret trainer transfers to the guitar.

Hi ddiddler,

I'm happy to hear that you're checking out the fret trainer game! It is a fun way to memorize notes.

Hi, what lesson should I watch that teaches the notes so that I can go back to the fret trainer to test myself?

There may be a lesson in here on note training, I am not sure, but if it helps you, what I did was start with the C and found it on each string, then D, E etc. After a while you just know where the notes are on each string without putting any thought into it. And even though you may not use them much, its a good idea to know where the notes are below the 12th fret.

Good luck.

couple of points within lessons using the L shape to move to same note on a different string. There are How to memorise the fretboard tutorials on GT facebook page. Might be in here somewhere.

there is a fretboard diagram in the tool box.

We should know the nut and the 12th.

We can go up strings in WWH etc

you pick up spots. 8th fret 6th is C

spots on 4th string are FGA

alongside on 5th is CDE

start with the natural notes up to 6th fret as a starter.

It starts to come together.

Then when we think we are slow the fret trainer lets us know we are improving even if it is snails pace.

Yeah I'm not sure of the system youhave there. Like I said, for me I went note by note on each string. Didn't take too long. But whatever gets the job done is the way to go.

one month on and my best has only moved to 1min 15 secs but I can see my general times are around 1min 25 as opposed to the 1min 30secs.

Mostly right and I feel there is not a lot left for me if it's moving the mouse and hitting the right button that is holdingmy times where they are.

Definitely finding more reference points around the fretboard and getting better at coming back from the 12th fret rather than counting up the string
