They don't call it a "hook" for nuthin'! This catchy chorus uses a trick usually reserved for Motown songs. This is where the guitar and bass are playing the
same melodic line together. This is called an ensemble line.

Notice how room is left for the vocal hook before the guitar comes in. This
really makes the vocal AND the guitar stand out but compliment each other
at the same time.

Did you notice that the bass started playing this melodic line in the second
half of the verse before the chorus? A cool trick that you don't hear every day
and it makes for a very clever song arrangement.
