There is a good deal of subtlety in learning this lick. We'll look at the the bends and pre-bends of the opening lick. While you're bending you must also use chicken pickin' in the pick hand. This isn't the easiest coordination on guitar, so take your time to nail it.
The chordal part of this riff will help you nail the groove. The chords are fairly simple because they are all three string voicings. The feel of these chords comes in mastering the strumming and muting of the pick hand. If you get this, you've practically mastered the whole song. Again, take your time to get it right. Mastering the feel is way more important than playing it fast right away.
Finally, you'll notice there's no playalong track for this lesson. That's right - no playalong. Why? Because this part is played SOLO by the guitarist. You kick this song off with no other bandmates - that's why it's so important that you nail this part from the beginning.
More ReviewsI find it quite easy (so far!) to navigate, and found the "where do I start" to be very helpful! I'm getting there!!
I LOVE the forum, too. I've never been one to use forums, but the GT forum is full of great people and helpful information at ALL levels! Congrats on a WONDERFUL site!!
Good job!
