Description
GUITAR: I'm using a Les Paul style guitar in this tutorial, but you can use any guitar with a humbucker pickup in the bridge position to get the tones needed for this tune. The humbucker provides plenty of power and clarity for your crunch and your clean settings.
AMP: The song features some crushing heavy crunch tone, courtesy of a maxed out Mesa Boogie style modern hi-gain tube amplifier. You'll need plenty of gain to get the sound here, but you don't need to overdo it, as the lower tuning also contributes significantly to the big, warm tone. Check out the settings I used for this tutorial:
Mesa-Boogie style (hi gain modern) model: Drive: 100% Bass: 50% Mid: 45% Treble: 75% Presence: 75%
UNIVIBE EFFECT: (Lead Guitar only) Speed 2.45Hz Depth: 80% Wet/Dry mix: 30%
Use the same basic tone for the guitar solo, but kick in the univibe effect for some extra grungy craziness! The solo is about pure aggression, and the effect adds to the overall ugliness of it all.
