For the second variation we'll play the single note melody again. But this time we'll add a bend to some of the notes. Adding a little vibrato to some of the notes adds a lot of expressive character. Essentially, I am just bending to the next higher note in the D major scale, before playing the next melody note.

Again, it might be beneficial to simply learn the melody, then add the bending technique after you've got the notes memorized.

The third variation alters the melody line considerable, but still follows the chord progression seamlessly. This particular variation is one that is closely modelled after one in the original Pachelbel piece.
