The tune switches to another riff before the verse comes in. The first part of the section is played with tight palm muting, locking with the drum shots.

Open it up for the next half, which is played with a combination of the heavy palm muted chugs and wide open octaves.

The final chord is an Eb flat 5 power chord, the tritone being a heavy metal staple! Note the variation going into the second verse, when you strum that chord with the drum shots.
