For the lead guitar that appears in the intro we'll need to get our fuzzboxes out and dial in a gnarly tone that sounds almost like a blown up speaker.
You'll need very little bass here, I have it set to about 3 and the mids are at 6 and the treble is also at 6. It shouldn't be too piercing or shrill but like a blown up speaker, not much bass at all. I have the drive on the fuzz turned a bit down because we want a more short and quacky response as opposed to long sustained notes. There's also quite a bit of reverb on this guitar which almost puts this guitar sound in the surf guitar category. Really effective for this type of song.
The rhythm guitar has some quirky sounds going on as well. They really found that 70's sound with a heavy filter/tremolo sound. It's so effected it almost sounds like a Moog keyboard.
So what you want is to dial in the tremolo so that it's playing sixteenth notes of the song, to give it a nice and choppy delivery. As far as the filter goes play around with what you have, you can absolutely just use a tremolo or a modulation pedal like a chorus or a flange if you don't have a filter pedal.
This guitar also has a bit of reverb on it just to silk it up a bit so don't dial in too much wetness on the rhythm guitar, it's the chop of the tremolo that is the key to the sound of this guitar.
