Along with bands like Motley Crue, Ratt, and Quiet Riot, Poison was at the forefront of the glam metal scene. Poison sprung on to the national stage with their outspoken and controversial image and punk/metal hybrid sound typical of the genre. But just two years after their debut, Poison had quickly matured into the pop-metal juggernaut that would rule the charts and MTV in the late 1980s.

Especially notable is the development of CC Deville as a player and soloist - and the song we’re about to cover, "Fallen Angel", shows CC and the band at the height of their prowess.

We're treated to iconic palm muted rock riffing, tasty fills supporting the vocals, a dramatic bridge section with broken chordal figures, and some nimble soloing that runs the gamut from whammy bar antics, to blues-inspired hammer-ons and pull-offs, to some particularly nimble scalar shred. We’ll learn all this, and more, as we deconstruct this 80s classic.

We're in the key of G major, in 4/4 time, at a tempo of 150 PBM.
