The song starts out with a pretty heavy riff that will incorporate the low E string played open and giving the string a bend to the 10th fret of the same string. The two things that are most important to keep in mind when playing this riff is timing of the down strokes and the pitch of the bend.

The timing is very important since this guitar sets up the song. We're playing straight 8th notes here, and I'm using all down strokes for the intro. In order for the bend to sound right and be effective you need to also watch the pitch of the bend, following the bend up one whole step but also following it back down. This timing is also important for the over cycle of the riff.
