What's up, it's Mike from Guitar Tricks, teaching you "Foreplay" as made famous by Boston. This is a stand-alone introduction prelude to the Boston song "Long Time". Like most Boston, it is classic rock in the form of a larger than life arena rock anthem! It features a timeless, classical-sounding organ intro, powerful & driving rock rhythms, crushing guitar riffs, and high drama the whole way through.

There are 2 guitar layers in this tutorial. There is a main crunch guitar that plays the pummeling power chord riffs. Guitar 2 is a heavily effected crunch guitar that provides some stratospheric wailing and sound effects fit for any spaceship landing.

The tune starts off with a low key classical sounding intro, and soon explodes into a high energy aggressive guitar and organ riff-fest. There are 3 distinct riffs that are each played twice in the song. The tune winds down with a dramatic fanfare that crescendos, then drops way down in dynamic to set up the segue for "Long Time".

For the single guitar performance of this song, you will play Guitar 1's crunch guitar parts all the way through the tune.

In the following lessons, we'll talk about power chords, dynamics, rhythm guitar approaches, and some atmospheric guitar approaches. We are in the key of Bb minor, with a 4/4 time signature, at a tempo of 180 BPM.
