We will be using our capo today on the second fret and playing out of the key of D. This translates to the key of E harmonically. It would be difficult if not impossible to re-create the baseline playing out of an E shaped chord which is why the Capo is required.

This song features a signature riff that descends from the 3rd string down to the 5th string. it is an integral part of the song, so one piece of gear we will be using is a finger or pick to get a solid, accurate performance of this part. While you are welcome to use a flat pick to play this song, I’ll be demonstrating a technique I call bass whacking for bringing out the bass "hook" using first finger.
