I'll teach a made easy version of this song using an acoustic guitar, but any guitar is suitable to learn the song this way. We'll break the parts down to simple open chords, and add an easy strumming pattern so you can jam along with the track. We'll also learn to strum at a few different dynamic levels from quiet to loud as it follows the story of the lyric.

This is a great song to learn how to build the dramatic story arc of a song.

The arrangement features four distinct sections; intro, verse, chorus, and a bridge - each with its own chord progression. Many of the chords are open chords, but there are a few barre chords that are required, which can be challenging for a beginner. In addition to the full barre chord shapes, I'll also show simplified versions of these chords as an alternative. That said, I do urge you to attempt and practice the full version of the chords, as barre chords are a cornerstone of the guitarist's toolkit.

Any guitar tuned to standard tuning is suitable to learn and play this song.
In the following lessons, we'll talk about simple strumming patterns, open chords and barre chords, and dynamics. We are in the key of G and C major, with a 4/4 time signature, at a tempo of 71 BPM.
