I'm using a Les Paul for Guitar 1, and a Stratocaster for Guitar 2, but any electric guitar is suitable for each guitar layer. Be sure to select the bridge pickup for maximum clarity and power.

As far as amps go, any Marshall style tube amp is a desirable choice. Set up the amp for a light crunch sound. Set the Drive to 50%, Bass to 50%, Mid to 55%, Treble to 60%, and Presence to 65%. For Guitar 2, either roll down the volume control on the guitar to clean up the sound, or adjust the amp's preamp gain down to 25%.

Add some reverb to both guitars for depth.

I used a 10-46 string gage, with a heavy pick so I can keep things aggressive.

Here are the settings I used:

Marshall Plexi Model:
Drive: 50% Bass: 50% Mid: 55% Treb: 60% Presence: 65%
Spring Reverb:
WetDryMIX: 35%
