Description

This lesson will continue the idea from our last tutorial. We will take modern country riffs based on power chords and start to add the chords we used before making power chords a part of how we play. In this lessons we will use a D power chord to add punch and drive to the riff. We will let that power chord build up to the G and A open chords that complete each statement. This sound is a typically modern Keith Urban phrase.

Try playing this without the power chord if you would like to compare the sounds. You will see how different and necessary the power chord is to that country sound you hear today.

Pay attention to the pick hand for the best results. It's not the fretboard hand that carries the weight of your sound any longer.
