The Mexican Strats are pretty respectable. Quality wise they are substantially better than the Squire strats. You can pick one up for under $350.

this guitar is really nice. I played it at a store, and it plays really well, very fast. and looks really cool in the powder black color.

i own a mexicasn strat, and ya its better than a squier, but its just as good as any american strat or or watever that ive played. There great guitars.
