Just curious...but does anyone play any other instrument than guitar around here? I play bass, saxophones, drums, piano, clarinets, recorder (who doesn't?), and trumpet.

Oh, heres the random thing I wanted to mention. I read this book in a store one time called "So you wanna be a Rock Star?". I thought it was corny. It was. The author went around the country totally overating these kids, not saying the kids weren't good, cause i wouldn't know.

Anyway, so I saw this one girl who was 12, and the author said this quote about her which I think is pathetic: "This pationate young girl plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, keyboards, acoustic bass, and electric bass!!!"

Okay, now I totally went sarcastically: "WHOA!!! SHE PLAYS ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC!!! OH MY GOD!!!!! !!!! HUH??? SHE PLAYS PIANO AND KEYBOARD??? HOLY CRAP!!!! "

I mean, come on. If you play acoustic guitar, you can pick up the electric and get the same sort of experience. Same goes with piano/keyboard. This guy just totally overrates these kids, even if they are really good.
Like a phoenix rising from the flames...

...so shall the epic journey unfold as we discover our ancient future and craft legends through fire and flight.

This is a night of trance...

I play ukulele! :D

and in that author's defense, keyboards and piano are a tad different. keyboards can be as simple as sound effects that play when you hold down a note. I know plenty of pianists who cant play a synth to save their life, and vise-versa. I see your point though, that is a bit over the top OMG-wize.

I play keys and piano too, a few years longer than I have guitar. I play bass on the side, and I can play some wicked bongos and djembe.

How wildly unrelated.

No, we don't. Try a tab site like Ultimate-Guitar.

I've always been a firm believer in mastering what you are talented in, rather than becoming the so-called "Jack of all Trades, Master of None".
Dabbling around is fun occasionally, but I keep my focus and time on guitar.

Maybe the Author is a bit over excited with glee, but there is quite a difference between playing an Acoustic and/or Electric guitar, IMO. Especially over the last 40 years with Hendrix and many others stomping out the chance for the two types of playing styles being combined with equal effects. Most styles have their genre. Imagine a Pete Townshend frenzy, smashing an Acoustic!!!! Or The Eagles throwing in some Zack Wylde squeaks while performing Hotel California. It's just different styles of playing and many (not all) performers are better (Or prefer) one style over the other, 10 songs to one. Some players, IMO, have proven to have an equal gift playing either instrument, like Jimmy Page, The Eagles, etc..... some Acoustic, some Electric and some combined recordings, which all receive high merit.

If you had the opportunity to sit down and jam with ONE of these players for two hours, Who would it Be?????
Jimi Hendrix...............
John Denver..............
Randy Rhoads............
Bob Dylan.................
Dimebag...................
Dave Matthews.........
Satch......................
Johnny Cash.............
SRV........................
Bob Marley...............
David Gilmour............
Cobain.....................
James Taylor.............
EVH.........................
Jeff Beck..................
John Petrucci............
Jimmy Page..............
BB King....................
Slash......................
John Lennon.............
Marty Friedman.........
Eric Clapton..............
Frank Gambale...........
Vai..........................
Sheryl Crow..............

Being able to only choose one will show what style is most important to you...

Wow. Tough question. I can narrow it down to:

SRV, B.B. King, Clapton and Dylan. Although I would play with any one of them!

One is the loneliest number that you ever knew.
My advice would be to choose SRV in this instance. You still have a chance to bump into BB, Eric and Bobby at some party. (Odds are unlikely that all three would attend the same party, but you never know).................

Wow, that would be a hard choice, I can narrow it down to two, Bob Dylan or Jimmy Page.

Agreed. Man, what a party that would be. Talk about a jam and a half!

Joe Satriani.... it's not about style as such, more about technical command and musical understanding...
