Nice track....I really need to work on some "Bluesy" type riffs anyway....that style has always eluded me for some reason ....to much 80's metal in me I guess (??)

Not to sound negative or anything, but I've noticed a lot of distortion in this track.....some of the gains were too hot in the first stages of the recording process ....like the mic pre's or the initial track vol was set too high (not in post recording...)

I love the track, but it'd be "perfect" if it could be cleaned up or something (Impossible to do with out rerecording the oversaturated tracks.... :( )

Thanks,
Rick

Apart from the really bad clipping, it also sounds like there is a low string that is way way out of tune in some spots too (possibly on the guitar to the left).

The track reminds me of "The Lumberjack" by Jackyl... Very cool tune

If the clipping and tuning can get sorted out, I might see if I can work something up for this one... haven't done a solo jam in a while

Whatā€™s up guys. Her is my entry, itā€™s a shame that the sound of the backing track is clipping and the guitars are way out of tune; however , I wanted to give it a try.
Let me know what you think.

Good one! Rather different from your usual style of playing - surprised me a bit! The picture is not up to your usual standard tho' :D

Here is take one. There is a take two - I haven't decided which I prefer yet. See if this one gets slated... The out of tune BT is not out of place here!

Can you play "Far Far Away?"

Yes - how far would you like?

Thanks.

I have to say that this is your best entry so far IMO.
I liked the slide work a lot, and I think you have your blues licks down.
About the pictureā€¦ Iā€™ll do better next month. :D

Playing over this backing is kinda tricky because the background is out of tune and is hard to keep the bends in the right pitch, not to mention the characteristic ā€œswingā€ of the blues rhythm which differs a little with the drums.

Here is what I did to the BT, to make it a bit better:

Hard Limiter. -6.000000
Compressor. (Threshold -11db) (Ratio 2:1) (Attack time 0.2 secs)

Thank you! It is rather 'cliched' but I thought that's kind of what this track is about really. I tried your comp/limiter suggestion - it made a difference but not much - on a low end laptop/sound card anyways! Thx for the info anyway.

The chords are:
Intro:...E7 l D7 l (walking line A,G,Gb,F,) E7 l D7 E7.
Verses: A7 l D7 l A7 l A7
...........D7 l D7 l A7 l A7
...........E7 l D7 l (walking line) E7 l D7 E7

Try soloing with the A blues scale or the A minor Pentatonic.

Yeah. There isn't much we can do for cleaning up that backing; is like they say..."whatever you record stays there". Is easier to add things like effects and such, than trying to correct errors made at the time of recording.

Cool....Thanks!!! I tried a couple of passes and I have not found a good sound setup yet that does not get all caught up in the backing track. Most of the time Cool Edit Pro does not need much tinkering with to get a good mix. But I might have play with it some on this one. Of course I say that with only having recorded about 3 songs so far. So maybe it was beginners luck who knows. :o

Nice take zOsO_jp. Did you use your Mesa Amp?

I just want to let you folks know that I revisited my take, the only thing is that I donā€™t like the way it sounds in the soundclickā€™s player. (canā€™t hear the backing that well)
So, please take the time to download it and listen to it on your favorite player.
Let me know what you think.

Man I haven't been up to date checking out the entries, but I just wanna say, tried to get a quick jump on this one, which I attempted about a week ago, and I just had to stop. I couldn't tell if I was out of key and using some scale unknown to human life-forms, or what, but now my suspition has been confirmed. I think I'll give it another try and just beware of the out of tune-ness. Anyone tried using some sort of tuning enhancer?

Okay here it is. I wanted to get this done so I could listen to the other entries. I got frustrated and I had a few beers in me so I did this in one take. I figure its kinda sloppy but maybe that suits the backing track better.....Anyway its guitar 101. Due to my skill level. Any helpful advice would be appreciated. Fingerspasm
