i keep hearing all this "double your speed in 4 weeks with the metronome" but how exactly do you do that?

Set it slow and nail the licks (don't cheat here, actually nail them flawlessly as a pro would) then gradually increase the speed of the metronome until you can nail it at that speed too. Do this about 500 times and there you have it. :rolleyes:

yeah metronomes help a lot, but it still takes hard work. If you aren't very fast and you work hard at it you could double your speed in four weeks, probably.

Yeah it just takes working your speed up. You gotta keep up with it too or you start to get sloppy then you start to slow down...

Make sure that when you do this, go through bunch of scales/licks. If you do the same ones over and over your fingers will lock up and you won't be able to play clean. Even just taking a scales from the 12th fret and moving it down to the 5th or 3rd fret would be good.
