Hello, my name is Greg.

I have eave just purchased my first guitar. It is a Fender mim Stratocaster. 2 singles with a humbucker. I got it discounted thanks to a scuf mark on the body. I purchased a Boss Katana 50 amp that will arrive in a few days.

I have never played a guitar. I am now a father of 2 and 32 years old. I have decided to commit myself to minimum 30 minutes everyday for 365 days and see if I progress.

I researched for weeks and feel guitar tricks would be the best tool for me to use.

I am very excited to begin after the children go to bed tonight!

Sup Dude!

Glad to have you part of Guitar Tricks. Fender Mexican Strats are very cool! I have one as well. As always, if you have any questions just ask.

Best,

Billy

I took a 5 day trip to New Hampshire and decided to take my guitar, even though I wouldn't be bringing my amp. I have now picked up my guitar everyday for at least 30 minutes, and I am pleased with my progress so far.

I am successfully playing the first 5 simple chords. And moving from one to another well. Not great but well.

And and I am as excited to continue learning as I am just playing what I know. Plus my fingers hurt less!

Welcome to this fine site Greg. I have a Strat MIM too and it's a beauty. I've had it since new and it's now about 20 years old and mint. It never leaves the house.

Try changing your chords so slowly that it's just about impossible to make a mistake and make sure every string that supposed to ring does ring. Speed will come.

Dazed and Confused.

Good idea. I have been trying to place all 3 fingers for D major chord at once and not one at a time. I had real success with that today (going from E minor to D major). But I was trying to go to fast I think.
