'Grizzled Veteran' was a special, one-only title given to Raskolnikov to celebrate his 1000th post. All such things are subject to the whims, or considered decisions, of Jon Broderick, the long-suffering Webmaster who keeps this crazy scene going.

Rask was the first to crack the 1000 mark. I don't have a problem with giving him a unique title for it.
If I had a particular title in mind, I might want Jon to change it for me, but I also realise that there are quite a few of us with more than 1000, and more on the way. We might eventually have several dozen members with strange titles that wouldn't really mean anything. For me, being a moderator is more important than having 1000 posts.

I think I was the second or third person to reach 1000 though. That should be worth something. :)

Of course, when Rask had his title, he wasn't a mod. Now he is one, he just has the "moderator" title. BTW, where is the young man anyway? I guess he's still in a state of moving, but I haven't seen him around for ages, it feels like.
