One of my favorite licks! I first learned it from John Petrucci of Dream Theater, but these kinds of pentatonic sequences are very common in many other styles of music.
Eric Johnson, Mr. Pentatonic add9 himself, uses this stuff all the time, even though he usually mixes it up with odd numbers - playing 5 notes, then 6 etc.
