Description

In this tutorial we will learn to play a basic 12 bar blues in G major in a style that combines and alternates between a blues rhythm riff and a lead fill.

In earlier tutorials we had a clear distinction between the rhythm riff and the lead fill. In this tutorial we're going to squeeze those two separate approaches closer together so we get one overall riff and uses both the high and low register of the guitar. The idea here is to make a blues riff that sounds really full. That fleshes out both rhythm and lead all in one riff.

We'll use a shuffle rhythm and the overall form we will use is the I-IV-V 12 bar blues in G. So, we'll take the same riff and move it around the fretboard to play the chord changes.

The main idea we are exploring in this tutorial is learning the mechanics of changing from one group of strings to another seamlessly in one riff that really sounds full!
