In this lesson I show you the intro of the song, as it was played by Johnny's guitar player Bob Wootton. I'll talk a little about his picking technique, then I'll show you how to play it yourself.
This was played out of open chord positions, and for the most part these positions are held until the next chord. You'll see in the video that I'm just sliding, or picking up a finger while holding the chord.
This intro is also known as a turnaround, and is played again after the first chorus. The progression is played again for a tag at the end of the song.
Next I'll show you the chord progression of the verse.
