Description
For guitar one, we are going to be playing a boom-chick rhythm. Boom-chick is a way of playing a basic walking bass line along with the chord progression of a song. Playing a bass line and the chords establishes the groove. Guitar Tricks has some great lessons on boom-chick strumming and country. The way we play this is by plucking the bass string alternating between the A and E strings or the D and A strings, and strumming the high notes. I will be playing this open finger style using my thumb to pluck the bass notes on the downbeats. I will use the rest of my fingers to strum the higher notes on the upbeats. If you prefer, you can use a pick.
