Description

This song's single guitar layer is a Strat with a loud, ballsy tone in classic SRV style.

The tune starts out with a classic blues turnaround, then settles into a Texas shuffle groove for the verse. All but one of the verses in the arrangement use a unique 16 bar blues format. There is one 12 bar blues verse that occurs just before the guitar solo. The solo is classic SRV with plenty of high octane blues chops to tap into. The whole performance is a great opportunity to practice how to hold down the song with only one guitar layer in the context of a power trio.

In the following lessons, we'll talk about triads, boogie based rhythm work, a Texas shuffle groove, and some killer bluesy lead approaches.

Tune your guitar down one-half step to E-flat to play along with this tutorial. We are in the key of A major, with a 4/4 time signature, at a tempo of 118 BPM.
