Description

The Stratocaster is without question the guitar needed for this song. The single coil pickups provide the unmistakable bluesy twang required to make this tune sound authentic.

As far as amps go, any Fender-style tube amp is a fine choice. Set the amp for a clean tone. Set the Drive to 30%, Bass to 45%, Mid to 50%, Treble to 60%, and Presence to 65%.

Use a Tube Screamer (or any overdrive) pedal to drive the input of the amp. This will create a louder, ballsier sound typical for SRV.

Add some reverb for depth.

I used a 10-46 string gage, with a heavy pick so I can dig right into those bluesy riffs and leads with some authority.

Here are the settings I used:

Fender Deluxe Model:
Drive: 30% Bass: 45% Mid: 50% Treb: 60% Presence: 65%
Tube Screamer:
Drive: 50% Tone: 55%
Spring Reverb:
WetDryMIX: 25%
TUNING (low to high) : Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
