String Bending

Description

This position works with an A chord, and you're still bending the 2nd string up a whole step. In the next 7 lessons, we'll be bending the 4th note in the scale up to the 5th note in the scale.

Put your ring finger in the 3rd fret on the 2nd string, and your middle finger in the 2nd fret. Use your index finger to block the other strings, and you can also put your pinky in the 3rd fret on the 1st string. Bend the 2nd string in the 3rd fret, from the D note to sound like the E note in the 5th fret.

Play the 2nd string with a pick, or your finger, and then bend it. Release the bend, but don't play the string again until you go back to the C note in the 1st fret. Then you play the root note of the scale, in the 2nd fret on the 3rd string.

The note in the 3rd fret on the 2nd string is a D note, which is the 4th note in the A major scale. Here you're bending the 4th note up to the 5th note in the scale, which in this case is an E.
